VCBR Visitation Rules

All visitors must comply with the visitation security procedures as follows:

The Facility Director or designee must approve requests for visits during non-visiting times. Visitors and residents must comply with the following visitation rules. Failure to comply may result in the immediate termination of the visit.

Each resident will be permitted a minimum of one hour per visiting day with his visitors. The length of the visit will be determined by the activity in the visiting room on each visiting day (i.e., the number of visitors, available space, or staff limitations due to emergency situations on that particular day).

Visitation Hours

Tuesday and Thursday: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m EST.
Saturday, Sunday and State holidays: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m EST.

Contraband Security Procedures

Contraband is defined as any item or material that has been altered from its original design or not approved by the Facility Director, Director of Operations or Clinical Director. All visitors must comply with the visitation security procedures as follows:

  1. All visitors shall present a current driver¡¯s license or government issued identification bearing a picture and signature.
  2. Persons under 18 years old must be accompanied by a legal guardian or parent. Minors brought by persons other than a parent or legal guardian must present a notarized document from the youth¡¯s legal guardian or parent authorizing the adult to bring them to the visit.
  3. All visitors and their property may be searched by pat-down or electronic equipment.
  4. Visitors will be required to leave personal items outside the visiting area.
  5. Visitors will be asked to dispose of contraband before access to VCBR is granted.
  6. Illegal materials will be confiscated by the VCBR and turned over to local law enforcement.
  7. Unit staff will notify the resident of the presence of the visitor and ask him if he wishes the visit.
  8. If the resident does not wish the visit, the visitor will be informed of this and denied access to the facility.
  9. Smoking is not permitted in the visiting area.

Visitation Dress Regulations

Visitors may wear casual dress that is reasonable and appropriate. VCBR reserves the right to refuse admittance to inappropriately dressed visitors.
  1. No bare feet. Footwear is required.
  2. No clothing that exposes breasts or genitalia. The body must be covered. Hems, slits or splits of dresses, skirts, culottes, shorts, etc., may not exceed the top of the knee.
  3. Underwear is required. Adult females must wear a bra. All individuals must wear underpants or undershorts.
  4. No halter tops, tank tops, or tube tops.
  5. Visitors will not wear clothing with a sexual, gang related, violent or controlled substance message.
  6. No pocketbooks, handbags, or wallets are allowed in the visiting room. Lock these items in a car. VCBR is not liable for lost, stolen, or damaged property.
Any visitor whose dress is considered inappropriate will be referred to the Officer in Charge who will make the final decision on admittance to the visiting room.

Denial of Visitation

Visitors to the VCBR may be denied access to the facility when they:
  1. refuse to be searched.
  2. are suspected to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  3. cannot show a current driver¡¯s license or government issued picture identification.
  4. are former employees of VCBR and do not have prior written approval from the Facility Director or his designee.
A resident may be denied a visit if he:
  1. exhibits hostile or aggressive behavior that may create a security problem and/or seriously disrupt the visits of other residents.
  2. refuses to dress appropriately.
Residents may appeal the disapproval of visitors through the VCBR Resident Complaint Procedures.

Supervision of Regular Visits
  1. Residents will be permitted to embrace the visitor once at the beginning of the visit, and again at the conclusion of the visit. ¡°Embrace¡± means a brief kiss and hug. Otherwise, physical contact will be limited to hand holding.
  2. Visitors and residents may hold hands in plain view, on the table.
  3. The facility may assign seating for residents and visitors.

Food and Packages

  • No packages will be accepted for drop off for residents.

Termination of Visitation

Visits may be terminated at the discretion of supervisory staff whenever visitation rules are violated by either the resident or visitor, or the visitor or resident ignores staff instruction to cease violating the rules.

If a visit is terminated, the visitor and resident will be notified of the termination and reasons and security staff will escort the visitors out of the facility.
